PT Panca Amara Utama

PT Panca Amara Utama (“PAU”) is a 2,000 tons per day ammonia initiative. This USD 830 million project is built near Luwuk, Central Sulawesi utilizing natural gas from the Senoro-Toili gas fields (Donggi-Senoro), Central Sulawesi, supplied by JOB Pertamina-Medco E&P Tomori Sulawesi.

As per the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree PAU has been allocated natural gas and the natural gas will be processed to produce ammonia, the main raw material for producing urea fertilizer and other chemical products.

PAU’s ammonia plant runs on KBR’s Reforming Exchanger System & Purifier Technology, the leading technology in Ammonia production. This represents its first application in the world, which puts Indonesia at the forefront of Ammonia production worldwide. Construction began in June 2015 and the plant began commercial operations in September 2018.

As one of the biggest industrial project in Eastern Indonesia, PAU initiative supports the government’s program for maximizing domestic utilization and value addition of natural gas, parallel to strengthening national food supply security by encouraging fertilizer production.
